CODE and CORE
Friday, April 16, 2010 | Powell Pumas Tale
This semester we introduced CORE to our school. C- Community-minded O-Own It R-Respect E-Eager to learn! At Newton they have CODE. C- Caring O-Open Minded D-Discipline E-Engaged. These two words and the meanings of their letters help the Powell and Newton students stay on task and be a better school. But where did we get these from? Well, at Powell we were introduced to CORE at the beginning of the 2ND semester this year. Meredith and I asked Kelly T. and Bridget D. when they were introduced to CODE. They went to Newton last year and half of this year, they mentioned that CODE became part of Newton last year at the end of the year. At Newton they put on a play to represent what CODE looks like. When Powell brought CORE to us, they also put on a play with Core Man and Dr. Destrocto. Did we copy Newton? Well, maybe the two schools talked and they could be trying to get it around the district to help all of our schools to become better schools all around. We also have CORE cards that the teaches give out when we represent any part of CORE. At Newton they also have CODE cards that teachers give out when a student represents CODE. Now the question is, who came up with this idea first?
